Oil Pastels
As an artist I am fascinated with the human countenance. I have lived in Africa, Europe, and the US, and I love painting people of various cultures.
The study of the effects of light and color on my subjects are an endless source of inspiration for me. I have developed a unique style of painting with oil pastels that results in striking portraits that glow with dramatic light, various textures, and complementary color contrasts. For me, working with oil pastels is the best of both worlds, allowing for painterly textures and colors combined with expressive mark-making.

Paintings in Oils and Acrylics
In the summer of 2019, I joined the Plein Air Painters of Kentucky, meeting weekly around the Louisville area to paint out of doors in local parks, historic places, and picturesque spots along the Ohio River. These original paintings are mostly oils on canvas or birchwood.
So far in 2022, my new artistic obsession is community theatre, so I’ll keep you posted!

Stories about Life Overseas and Back Home in Kentucky
My family and I lived in Mozambique, Africa from 1996-2000 where I taught high school English and art. After returning home to teach in Kentucky and earn my Master’s degree, we moved again to Cyprus where I taught at a Muslim University.
Currently, I am working as a local artist in Kentucky, so I’ll keep you updated on my art and share art lessons occasionally.
In the fall of 2021, I started participating in community theatre as an actor and singer. This has been so much fun. Don’t worry, I’m still creating visual art, but I’m hooked on theatre for now. We’ll see where it leads me.
