New Work, New Places
Snowscape with Reds and Blues, oil on canvas, 5 × 7 inches, available at Gallery 104 in La Grange, KY
It’s a new year, and I’m reflecting back on some changes that have come about with my artwork. I’m feeling more free to create abstract work that’s inspired by landscapes, such as the work pictured above. I may have slowed my pace a bit, but I’m still enjoying painting and drawing, and my work can be found at new places.

I juried into Gallery 104 in 2025. If you’ve never visited La Grange, it’s around 15 miles outside of Louisville, and it’s a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. The gallery is located on Main Street where they host several festivals and markets throughout the year. My most recent work, the snowscapes above, are available for purchase there at Gallery 104.
Several of my oil landscapes are currently on display at Preston Arts Center, along with the work of other local artists.
Another new place to see and purchase my art is at Preston Arts Center, located in Lyndon (part of east Louisville). They offer art supplies for sale, but also the work of local artists!
Many things have changed, but some things have not changed. A new acquaintance asked the other day if I’m a Christian. I said yes, but then I felt the need to explain what I’m not. For me, being a Christian is not about politics, although it may affect my politics. Here’s what, as a Christian, I strive to do and be:
I’m for loving and including everyone, especially those who are in need or are different from the majority of us. I’m for helping immigrants, refugees, and pretty much everyone, like Jesus did. I’m into forgiveness, grace, love, life, self-control, kindness, family, art, education, and the beauty of creation.
In these ways, I have not changed, but the world has changed so that now, if someone asks me if I’m a Christian, I feel the need to explain what that means to me. I love my country, but I also love the people of other countries, and I believe God loves other countries as much as he loves ours. I’m trying to be like Jesus, who said, “love your enemies” and “guard against greed.” Most labels are not helpful anymore, it seems. So if trying to be like Jesus means I’m a Christian, then yes.
